Despite this year's Hatching-tide event feeling a little uninspired, I find it a delightfully silly holiday in-universe and I think Urianger, in particular would love it. It's got prophecy! Archons of eld! Costumes! Rabbits for some reason! And thus, I felt inspired to make something.

I finished Transient Gundam (who is quite beautiful, but ugh, I did not do well with the clear-blue plastic; it scarred in weird unexpected ways) and want help picking my next build.

...while I also go through All My Paint because I might get to an actual hobby store next weekend where I can theoretically buy more paint/replace any bad paint. It's so much easier to buy paint in person than try to figure out color swatches on a monitor. ^^;;

I still have some other stuff to sort through, and I think a few other repair projects lingering, I am slowly but surely getting the desk and surrounding area sorted out for the first time in far too many years.

To have clean desks...

Survived tax day. Was utterly useless at the rental office the following day, but I did manage to do some actual work on Thursday and Friday.

Packed a couple more boxes of books. Probably ought to assembled some more empty boxes and start sorting through clothes and kitchen paraphernalia.

Hmm. I should probably also weed my filing cabinet. I am 100% sure I don't need to bring all those papers with me to Minnesota.

But tomorrow is mostly for unwinding. I will resume productivity Sunday afternoon, after treating myself to brunch.

(three days of unposted updates again, whoops)

Have had a lot of mail coming in. ^^;; A couple of things were KS/pre-orders that just happened to roll in at the same time as 'must buy all the model kits', but now my living room looks like shipping and receiving. ^^;;

(I am watching a lot of small stores get royally fucked by the tariffs, especially nerd stores and other hobby-related ventures. Just, this sucks not only as a customer but just a person who is genuinely glad that being a nerd selling stuff to other nerds exists as a career choice and would like that to continue.)

Maybe over the weekend I can catch up on some hobby posts? At the rate the weather is going (wtf is the weather doing?), cemetery zine is definitely going to be a #0 with previous years ramblings and photos. On the one hand, alas, but on the other this is fine and maybe a good starting point.

Gundam G Generation Eternal finally released! I smashed through what I could and will attempt to figure out how to pace myself shortly. There are some pretty firm resource walls and no real reason to blast through things other than being ready for the upcoming Astray event.

I bought a couple of things from a small gunpla shop and the order confirmation included a link to their discord server. I've been in gunpla/gundam discords before and ran screaming, but I joined anyway and so far it is very chill, they love Providence and Daggers, and I horrified them with my backlog.

Sentai Filmworks Spring Anime Sale, til the 20th iirc. I think I'm good for the moment and need to work on my backlog more. (I mean, I am, but-)

Apparently Hakuouki SSL is getting an English release, which is exciting. I don't think it has an exact date, though, so I'm just going to have to keep it in the back of my mind for later in the year.

I actually wrote and posted a drabble. It's not much, but it's something. Worked a bit on zine stuff. Maybe I can do a bit more later.

Also worked on cleaning in the dining room. I think getting rid of a few more plants will help out A Lot. I'm also going to take a bucket of sand and a bunch of incense out to the garage to burn while working out there. If it ever warms up, I mean, which it hasn't.

I’ve been having so much fun with that book/lists meme that has been going around, and last night I finally finished one of my own! …And then promptly went on to make a second one that same night. ~~And then started a third one that I haven’t finished yet, whoops.~~

First: 100 Books That Impacted Me In Some Shape Or Form! Deliberately excluding manga/graphic novels because I feel like that could be a whole list on its own.

I spent so much time fiddling with this list, debating on what it means for a book to be impactful, where exactly the difference between “impactful” and “enjoyed” lies, and where any particular book I chose would fall on that scale… do not ask how many hours I poured into this, lol. (And then, of course, after forcing myself to stop thinking about it and just post it, I immediately thought of like 5 more books that really should have been on this list! Isn’t that how it goes.)

After making that list (and sharing it with some people), I started thinking about making a list for games I’ve played as well. Since I do much less gaming than reading, I figured I’d make it easier for myself and aim for 50 games instead. So I opened up my backloggery, began making my way through, and… ended up with 75+ games without even really trying asdfghjkl; haha.

And thus: 100 Games Beloved By Me, featuring many visual novels and indie games, because I am who I am. I had to add so many of these to the database… But also plenty of jrpgs, because, again, I am who I am and I love what I love, haha. <3

All of these are games I really enjoyed at the time I played them; I make no promises about how they hold up now.

I would really love to hear how much overlap we have on either or both of these lists! As well as any more specific thoughts you might have on the books and games featured there <3

(As mentioned above, I have started a third list—for beloved/formative manga reads—though it’s slower going due to the amount of fan translations I read as a teenager that I no longer remember titles for… If I ever do finish it, I’ll share here! Also contemplating making another list for anime… but that will also have to wait.)

On Tuesday, Landlord Dude asked if he could drop by my apartment on Wednesday or Friday to take some photos for use in advertising the unit. I said Wednesday was no good, but Friday was fine.

So I did NOT put off my laundry another week and instead washed everything on Wednesday, as well as tidied a bit. Thursday I did more tidying, put away all the clean laundry, and also baked snickerdoodles for a memorial service because I promised to do that a couple weeks ago and didn't remember until Thursday morning. (This is how me promising cookies for memorial services always goes.)

Then this morning I ran a dustmop across a bunch of surfaces and tidied a couple more things.

Hopefully he will get decent photos!

He also mentioned that he will have to start showing the apartment, which is fair. I do want to get some of the stuff I have been boxing up (or collecting for donation) OUT prior to any strangers tromping around, but that's not really under my control, so whatever.

Three more days at Not the IRS (Saturday, Sunday, Tuesday) and I will be DONE!!! for the year. I don't know if I want to do taxes next year in Minnesota -- on the one hand, I do enjoy the work, but on the other hand, it is a logistical pain in the neck and runs me ragged for 3.5 months of the year. Ah well. We'll see how job searching goes in general before I make a decision on that front.

(Apparently my dad has said that he expects me to live in their basement for 2 to 12 months, which seems like a reasonable range. We all hope it's closer to 2 months, but he suggested that it would be fine for me to lurk in their basement and finish a BA in accounting while doing taxes on the side rather than dive straight into the job market. TBH I would prefer to have a steady job and do school on the side a couple years from now when I am eligible for cheap in-state tuition rates, but. Y'know. Who can say what will make the most sense in six months? *waves hands at the general state of the world*)

This is like a week in the making because I fell hard into 'but nobody cares, Kalloway' brainweasels. *sigh*

I have mostly gotten the bathroom back together, though I expect I will be finding drywall dust for~~ever~~ awhile despite my best efforts. I started cleaning in the dining room and spelunked all the way to the one nesting table I have, which is the middle of a trio of which my parents have the largest and smallest. No, I have no idea how this happened. Once we figure out something to replace it, I'll return it.

In an attempt to close some tabs on my phone, I made a ~~short~~ list of a bunch of the tabs that have something I want to buy and am working on just... buying what I reasonably can. ~~Which is not all of it, of course.~~ Quite a bit is stuff like $2 games on itch and whatnot. I also really want all of Kim Hu's Jeweled Saint Prints, which frequently go on sale, but that will require purchasing frames and figuring out where to hang them and I want to at least know where they're going before I order them. I pre-ordered a Code Geass Lancelot kit, which is apparently getting a reprint soon. For some reason, I thought I had one. I have a Vincent, though, and that seems to be it. I still need to make an order from a (new/used) bookstore that has a strong Fediverse presence. They have a few Sharon Shinn books I need, and some Arthuriana.

I have a bunch of packages package-racing from around the world. We'll see how that goes. *sigh*
